AEP Team

AEP is a service for artists created by Misnomer Dance Theater. These are the people who help make it run.

 

Rob Capili, AEP Product Manager

Rob’s expertise is the integration of product development and internet marketing. He comes from a dance background, and among other things, has been a presenter at Dance/USA’s Winter Forum, was on the Dance/USA Board of Directors, and on the Dance/USA Technology Sub-committee.

 

 

Chris Elam, Artistic Director & CEO of Misnomer Dance Theater and Founder of AEP

Chris Elam’s choreography for Misnomer has toured to over 250 theaters in fourteen countries, and has been expressed through numerous of artistic collaborations, including projects with Bjork, the Sundance Channel, Apple Computers and the Danish Dance Theater. A passionate advocate for the effective use of technology for audience engagement in the arts, Elam initiated the development of the Audience Engagement Platform (AEP), and is a frequent speaker on the subject at many of the country’s foremost arts, business and technology conferences, including Fortune Magazine’s Brainstorm: TECH, the Carnegie Mellon’s’ Technology in the Arts conference, and TEDx. Elam serves on the advisory board of the Americans for the Arts’ National Arts Marketing Project.

 

Larry Henry, Director of Partnerships and Development

Larry is a veteran of work in the arts world, having served in similar positions at Dance Theater Workshop, the Atlantic Theater Company and New York Theater Workshop.  Larry has also served in a Managing Director role and has taught theater to students in middle school through college. Before joining Misnomer, Larry has been responsible for all aspects of fundraising and donor stewardship as Director of Development at The Joyce Theater. He holds an MFA degree in theater directing from Catholic University of America and BS degree in Psychology from Old Dominion University.

 

 


Jeremy Williams, AEP Community Manager

Jeremy is dedicated to innovation and excellence in the fields of dance and theatre, with a focus on challenging and redefining the creation of new works, developing curriculum and pedagogy for physical performers, as well as leading professional development of educators, audiences, and artists. He holds a BA in Artistic Leadership from the University of Louisville and an MFA in Theatre: Contemporary Performance from Naropa University. He is the founding director of Convergences Theatre Collective (NYC) and teaches nationally.

 

AEP VOLUNTEERS:

Mark Turrell & Orcasci, AEP Marketing Strategy

Mark Turrell is the founder and CEO of Orcasci (ww.orcasci.com). Orcasci is a strategy and marketing agency that designs programs to ‘spread’ products, services, ideas and behaviors. Orcasci’s toolset for the Science of Spread leverages scientific concepts and social networking technology to get people engaged and deliver change. It’s unique approach, developed by Mark and his team, combines neuroscience, behavioral science, network science, complex systems, collective intelligence and innovation.

Mark is passionate about helping people change the world for better and sharing techniques to spread and scale good things faster. He has worked on projects as diverse as crowdsourcing election monitoring, smoking cessation, and motion picture marketing.

Prior to Orcasci, he co-founded Imaginatik plc (www.imaginatik.com), a pioneer in the use of Collective Intelligence and Crowdsourcing for corporations, focusing on Innovation. During his 16 years at Imaginatik, Mark worked with hundreds of companies around the world, including Boeing, Merck, Pfizer, Chevron, Dow Chemical, Nokia, IBM, Whirlpool, Weyerhaeuser and Xerox. As well as consulting with clients – and managing the business – he lead the firm’s research activities, publishing research reports, articles and speaking at conferences around the world.

Mark was nominated a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum in 2008, and a Young Global Leader in 2010. He has been a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, through his work at Imaginatik.
